The Transportation Research Board is seeking nominations for the Sharon D. Banks Award for Humanitarian Leadership in Transportation . This TRB award, which recognizes excellence in people-oriented initiatives throughout transportation, was inaugurated in 2002 and is presented biennially. 4th International Conference on Transportation Geotechnics*

TRB is cosponsoring the 4th International Conference on Transportation Geotechnics on August 30-September 2, 2020 in Chicago, Illinois. This conference will showcase research findings and practical applications of geotechnics on roads, rails, airports, harbors, and other ground transportation infrastructure, with the goal of providing safe, economic, environmentally-acceptable, reliable, and sustainable infrastructure.

3D Highway Design Model Cost Benefit Analysis

The Michigan Department of Transportation has released a report that evaluates construction costs to determine the return on investment and to document contractors’ current practices of using 3D models. It also explores ways to streamline plan production by delivering contractual model elements, and analyzes risk reductions associated with issuing 3D models.
