6th International Symposium on Highway Geometric Design: Abstracts due April 30*

TRB is cosponsoring the 6th International Symposium on Highway Geometric Design on June 28-July 1, 2020, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The objective of this Symposium is to stimulate continued world-wide improvements to highway geometric design. The Symposium will focus on the latest breakthrough practices relating to highway engineering in their different life phases, including daily operational effects, and safe highway designs. Abstracts are being accepted through April 30, 2019.

Integrating CRASH, Hospital, and Roadway Data to Investigate the Effect of Cable Median Barriers on Injury Severity

The Kentucky Transportation Center at the University of Kentucky has released a report that identifies road segments with installed cable median barriers (CMB) and those with either concrete median barriers or no median barriers. The goal of this report is analyze the impact of CMBs on injury severity when compared to injury severity on road segments with either concrete median barriers or no median barriers.

Hearing: The Cost of Doing Nothing: Why Investing in Our Nation’s Infrastructure Cannot Wait

On February 7. 2019, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure held a hearing to examine the current state of the nation’s roads, bridges, transit systems, railroads, ports, and airports in order to address infrastructure needs. The Committee heard testimony from public officials, the private sector, and non-profit organizations. Witness statements and a webcast of the hearing are available online.
